Seafall is a Legacy game. In a nutshell it’s a game that evolves, decisions you make in 1 game will carry though into future games. They often tell a story with a definite starting and end point. During the course of which you will mark the board or cards and even throw away or destroy game components.
The first time I played this game was co-op with a friend in a very busy store on games night. It was a hard fought game which came down to a extremely tense die roll. We sat on the edge of our seats as Annas cast the die. We shouted, we jumped and high fived. We didn’t care if anyone looked, it was awesome.
Town Planning is no easy thing. Well that’s the impression that I get when I look at the cities in South Africa :P. You not only need to cater for the needs of the population now but as it grows in the years to come. Luckily board games on this topic are not as tough.
Scythe (pronounced “scy” the “the” is silent) is a farming tool that was never really popular in South Africa. We always had the Panga. It’s also a weapon, we have no shortage of those (see Panga). In this instance it’s a board game about farming and fighting, only your scythes are actually giant steam punk styled mecha from the 1920’s.
1879 saw the start of the Anglo-Zulu war in South Africa. The Battle of Rourke’s Drift is by far the most famous battle of the war. This battle saw approx 140 defenders of Rourke’s Drift fight through the night against an army of +- 4000. It’s one of the greatest “stands” in military history.
