ICON 2016

ICON 2016

It’s almost time for ICON again! This year it’s almost a month earlier than normal, that because Raymond E. Fiest will be attending and it’s been moved to fit his schedule!!! As you can tell, I’m excited…

If you don’t know what ICON is; it’s the largest (and best) geek & gaming (not video gaming) event in South Africa. From Anime and games to comics and movie memorabilia, it’s got it all. 3 Days of geeking out and spending money that you really should not be.

So what’s actually happening?

A lot of info can be found here. One thing that’s not there (from what I can see) is the ICON brochure. It can be found on facebook though. You can expect lots of games and lots of shopping 😉

ICON 2016 promises to be bigger and better than ever. There’s going to be panel sessions of various geek topics, more shopping, more contests and more of everything. In fact this looks like it’s going to be the biggest ICON yet. It’s even moving to the Gallagher Convention Centre!

That’s huge. It’s a massive venue, there’s more secure parking. No more parking 2 km down the road and walking. No more parking tickets for parking on the road. There’s more space so everything won’t be on top of everything else. Heck there’s even going to be wifi!

I was so keen on going. I had my calendar cleared since January. Life once again has decided that I’m going to be having way too much fund and reckons that I need to adult more.

So I’m only going to be around on the Friday. It was not to be for naught, there was an Armada tournament scheduled for the Friday but it was moved to Saturday at the last minute.

I’ll be helping the Solarpop guys running demo games and there will be loads of old friends that I only get to see once or twice a year these days. On top of that I’ll have all of the coffee that I can drink!

I can’t wait!
