Sans Alliés is a solo wargame. You’re the commander of the good guys in a war against an evil enemy that’s trying to build their ultimate weapon. The race is on to topple their regime before they wipe you out.
Earlier in the year I decided to take up a 10 x 10 challenge. That’s to play 10 selected games 10 times each, before the year is out. Last year I was done by mid-February, this year I’m taking it slow and savouring the games. I think it’s time I took stock of where I am on the challenge.
This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of Hobby-X, South Africa’s premier hobby expo. There’s going to be lots to see, even talks on how to turn a profit from your hobby but what I want to see is the Solarpop exhibit. Solarpop is a company formed by the merger of the 3 largest table top game distributors in SA.
So 2016 is gone. It’s dead and gone, I’m happy for that. It was a pretty rough year, hopefully things will normalise in 2017. Not to say that things will be better, but there’s always hope. So as most people start off a year with resolutions I started mine off with a 10 x 10 challenge!
…because I have some really bad luck. Take this past weekend for example. South Africa is having a drought and the province of Gauteng is in the middle of a heatwave so I’ve not been sleeping well. For some reason, last Saturday, I was up early. I don’t know why but I can get up early on a Saturday but never on a weekday. I head to the bathroom to wash up. There’s no water. Not just my place but the entire neighbourhood, during a heatwave! On top of that, everyone in the house has exams coming up except me so whatever I do to entertain myself but I must not make a racket.
